IR - First 3 shoots.

Camera Model - G10 with R72 IR filter
First one is taken from my apartment window. didnt have a converter so i used double sided tape to stick the lens on. Surprisingly this is my first and fav shot so far. The second one was taken at the park beside SJMC. The third is the japanese restaurant with koi park at sentul west (??) i have lousy sense of direction n memory for names n numbers..Gomen, nyuuu~

i like 2 and 3, i call them a nice set painting on wall..

Always interested in doing IR photography long ago but forget about that in the end. These photos really pushes me to try on this... it's really awesome~

Fred: hmm these kinda pale in comparison to those i saw on other local sites but i was inspired by them n decided to get the filter. All these have to be showed on small scale as they are kinda pixelated n sometimes blur. not sure why >.< i've seen super sharp ones and have no idea what im missing other then the fact most of them use DSLR n Mod-ed bodies.

future plans to get a fully mod-ed cam but that will be a while for obvious reasons haha $__$

james: funny u should mention paintings on wall coz that is actually what i initially thought it looked like when i finished editing. however with the suxy quality i doubt they will look any good printed n larger in size.

well done once again! i hope i can get the digital file from you and print them out as a painting on my wall

The IQ drop when using IR filter is always expected when there is another additional piece of glass take parts. I think most of those clear and sharp IR photo were from Mod-ed cam. This is also the main draw back to me when wanted to get an IR filter back then. Is the quality really that bad ?

i don think the image quality that bad,after all i wont blown them that big to hang on my wall haha..coz my room very small only kekekeke.....

Erm really quite bad, frustrating even at times when u think it looks so darn good on the camera screen only to load it into the computer n find it a huge pixelated mess. I'll go poke around at home tonight n show u a crop of the larger unedited version for an idea.

** then again it could be the too 'zhun' G10 screen that's to be blamed for the high expectation.

Hahahhaa....i totally understand wad u feel about this. Sometimes the camera LCD can be very deceiving and looks darn good~ =.=/// Like previously my E-410 LCD might show the photo is under-expose but in computer O.K then again E-510 is another way round... Hahaha....

exposure n colour wise is still acceptable as obviously each has different setting. even photos we upload online will get different comment like some may say its under saturated...some will complain it looks overcooked...all boils down to our comp settings.

I always like looking at pictures i take on the G10 coz the screen really makes it look good! Purecolor LCD II with 461k dots resolution...syokness..if only my monitor screen could look as good XD

How about getting a dSLR

She has a 40D already, but then if want to do real IR, need to mod the DSLR for IR only though.

simmon: I tried with 40D n it came out fully red. DSLRs have very strong built in filters =(

Close up of unedited IR image. notice the ugly splotches of magenta in the sky? it gets even worse on foliage with lots of pixel spotting.


here are 2 good examples of how the Ir looks promising but it ends up looking like.'ewww' after editing coz of those killer pixel patches...plus i over cooked the editing in hopes of saving the file ..which turned disastrous rendering the image 'trashed'.

its actually more about photoshop 'cooking' more then anything else.
yup..the third one is klpac and few below that failed.
