[Question] Canon Servicing

asking on behalf of my friend,and i wish to know more about it too

he is having a Canon 75-300 III USM lens, old model n out of warranty, he sent this lens for servicing, after a week+ Canon informed him that the service charge is Rm480 if he wish to service. of course he declined, Rm480 plus a bit go and buy a new one better.

the prob of his lens is image not sharp/blur pic outcome.
may i noe is there any cheaper or alternative way for lens servicing?CANON

i tought it was FREE ( for cleaning only i guess?), and some told me that minimum will be Rm 120.

is there any other way to service/clean/repair the lens without spending so much?
(does any shop provide such services..Zzz)

and my 350D sensor also very dirty ("dot dot dot, dust maybe), any suggestion?? cleaning kit wont help tht much i suppose

So far as i know is that Canon provide free sensor cleaning for all bodies.Unlike Nikon thy charge rm60 for middle range level.
As for your lens maybe u can try YL Camera as thy do their own repair at Pudu Plaza..

Dirt will NOT cause your lens to be out of focus, the focus point is not on the lens.

u r refering to the 75-300mm case rite, thank you..
erm, so may i noe is it possible tht the reason for "malfunction" is the elements of the lens spoilt or dmg..coz Canon charging rm480(servicing) for the lens itself..its a huge amount:confused:

I think should be ok cause it is a after sales service provided by Canon. But u need to send to their service centre which is in subang jaya if i'm not mistaken
