Re: Single Tree - [HDR]
Thank you so much, Derek. Hahaa...what can I do? I used F16, is a bit wide for such landscape. I am a bit regret now....but I think I will be back again to this location when the skies are nice. Will have more in the futuredereklee wrote:credits to you for such a well taken picture as eddy said, wud b nicer with a smaller aperture. hope u have more breathtaking shots to share khoo yang.

Hahaaa... you are great! The idea of long exposure is brilliant! Please have a look at my bubble site at: http://www.redbubble.com/people/passtube
Because I reduce the image size to upload here, hence the sharpness lost. I normally shoot at F22 but sometimes, it's out of the limitation of the lens, the image can also lost its sharpness. I think the best would be F18 or F19 as you said. I have tried long exposure at this spot, look at my other images which contain long exposure, but the natural light are best in a very short time. After this shot, I don't think the light is good any more... I should try this spot some other time.

Re: Single Tree - [HDR]
ah... u are shooting at F16 already. maybe u can try using the (11mm?) hyperfocal length for this shot. u are focusing on the front rocks when taking this shot correct or i may be wrong
anyway... i'm not very pro oso. just read here and there on tips of getting perfect landscape shot

Re: Single Tree - [HDR]
Most lens when you go above f/9 or is it f/11 diffraction kicks in and basically you loose image quality.khooyang wrote:dereklee wrote:perhaps u can try F19 or 22? i usually try at diff apertures too. this cloud is moving either towards or away from u rite? try doing long exposure? wud b real dramatic n catchy i think

Hi Eddy, yes you are absolutely correct, I was focusing the rocks! I have to admit that I am still not very happy with the shot, but also one factor that cause unsharp image here is because I reduce the size and cause low IQ. Because I have corrected in photomatix and CS3, the file size reach 13M ! So in order to post, I need to reduce to about 5M.
Thank you so much for your tips :-). Thanks a lot

Yes, you are right. I think next time maybe I should try multi-point focus, instead of single focus. Do you think this will help or not? I have no idea about this. Would appreciate your advice.

Re: Single Tree - [HDR]
Your best bet to gain maximum DOF is to aim for the hyperfocal.

Re: Single Tree - [HDR]
most tut is suggest use f13 like that and focus 1/3 into the image...means this pic u must focus between tree and the rock
Re: Single Tree - [HDR]
Haha...good tips. Thank you very much CYCY wrote:Your best bet to gain maximum DOF is to aim for the hyperfocal.

Re: Single Tree - [HDR]
Hi Denny and Tim,
Denny, thanks, I have removed the flair. Thanks Tim, this definitely helps! I now realize this focusing issue and should try to focus somewhere on 1/3 and use lower aperture setting.
Thanks for the tips guys! Learn a lot from you all :-).
