Searching Zoom Lens
Hi everyone. I wan to get a better zoom lens for my dslr. My budget is below rm1k. 18-200mm or 55-250mm better? sigma? tamron? canon? or any others? Thank for any suggestion...

Re: Searching Zoom Lens
i only had experiences in canon 55-250 and canon 18-200...3rd party 18-200 i dunno the performances...but canon 55-250 not bad lah.....
Re: Searching Zoom Lens
You don't have much choice, its either the 55-250 or 70300 or 70200 already.

Re: Searching Zoom Lens
Agreed, else the lens would be useless indoor. But actually 55-250 shoot indoor also very tough even with flash.changshong wrote:Either 1 must get with IS version
Wah, you actually have a 55-250? Haven't seen you using before! Must be due to the small aperture issue .desmondlau wrote:I'm using canon 55-250 too... but use it not often

Re: Searching Zoom Lens
Haha, all the time I see you using 50mm f/1.8. Never once see you with that tele lens.
Must have been because that lens fail badly indoor due to such aperture and you would rather stick with the 50mm f/1.8 for bigger aperture ;-)

Re: Searching Zoom Lens
Conclusion, these lens aren't build for indoors. If you want to shoot indoor events, you need something with bigger aperture. 70200 f/2.8 is a good example, else the 70200 f/4 should be ok too.

Re: Searching Zoom Lens
Adrian,
I used to have this lens with 500D but all traded in for 5DMk2.
Exposure time: 1/400s
Focal length: 250mm
ISO: 100
F-stop: f/6.3

Re: Searching Zoom Lens
Looks a little soft, maybe because of movement. But shutter is 1/400s already hmm.

Re: Searching Zoom Lens
THANKS GUYS.... NOW I HAVE A PROBLEM WHEN SHOOTING IN NIGHT WITH EXTERNAL FLASH. MY PICTURE IS BLUR WHEN I SELECT ONE OF THE AF POINT. BUT THE PICTURE LOOKS FINE WHEN AF POINT IS AUTO.

Re: Searching Zoom Lens
Cy, this lens is not really a top of notch lens. Printing a normal size 4R should be OK.
Adrian, the AF assist light may not fall onto the object that you are trying to focus. I think thats why you have problem with your AF other than the middle AF point. Try to use the middle AF point and also use AF lock when you are in such situation. May be you should set the AF button to both AF lock + AE/metering. Try different setting that suits you best. May be rest of the photonian have other suggestion.
