i heard that old batch can get its firmware upgraded to enable the wireless trigger function... this is not verified...

Optical triggering ma. I think it works with any flash la, as long as there's flash signal.

not really, it works with TTL flash only.
that means, for example for nikon, if you turn your pop flash to manual, the 622i will not be triggered optically.
it will work only when your pop up flash is TTL (i don't know why it is so, this is funny)
Re: Canon 17-85 f4/5.6 or Tammy 17-50 f2.8??
Hmm weird, I do know my SB900 has a native slave mode. Meaning it follows the power output of my built in flash. Let's say my built in flash shoots at 1/1, then the SB900 follows at 1/1. Not sure if it is the same concept or not. If my built in does lesser power, the SB900 follows.
Well, I don't use that feature anyways but interesting when I discovered it .

what i discovered was different, CY... oops, can we continue this topic here? else we will be warned, hahaha....
i tried with d90, i set the pop up flash to manual 1/32, the sb900 i set to manual 1/8, it worked... it didn't sync the power woh... but i used optical, not CLS...

Tammy 17-50 f2.8 is good,it is a popular lens for among the photographer either the pro or the armature.

Of course, SB900 can do that ma aiyo, just the sync power one is also another feature. Native 'TTL'.derricklim wrote:what i discovered was different, CY... oops, can we continue this topic here? else we will be warned, hahaha....

if u buy 580 ex2, u can trigger other flash like 580ex2, 430 ex2
but ur 580ex2 must mount on the body there......
wireless flash.

yr statement is very, very wrong. canon's wireless system still can maintain the ttl or manual. nikon can only function on manual. what u need is a ste2 or a 550 or 580.

Guys there is such thing as flash trigger which only cost 100 bugs. It is running on radio wave that means can be triggered even if u hide the flash inside drawer. The only thing is there is no ttl.. i doubt the use of it.... though.
On my 7d, yes you can use remote trigger from body but need to be triggered using the attached flash... oso useful. The maximum shuttle speed for 580ex to 7d is only 1/250 seconds.

Mine is the two way one.. One way to trigger flash, the other way to trigger the camera shuttle.

1/250 is for wireless only or on hotshoe also is 1/250? Should be able to do fast sync actually especially on a 7D which is a pro body.S C Goh wrote:Guys there is such thing as flash trigger which only cost 100 bugs. i tried this before...
setup: 1 wireless trigger, 1 ex5802 and 1 ex430.
the wireless trigger fires the off-body 580, and 580 fires 430 using the canon CLS (work with manual power)
furthermore, if you have PT04 (1 already used to fire the off-body 580) and if you want to fire a 622i (since it sees TTL, not manual flash), another receiver can connect to it (622i).
so with this setup, you are get 3 flashes work at the same time, with no on-body flash.
i tested it for fun nia nia...

can do fast sync. even my little 500d can do fast sync too. but the control is on the flash body. not camera body... i tried 1/2000s....
