Re: mmu prom night 2010
Sak, are you using area mode for the AF? or single point AF? I think got a few are due to handshake. Tough to know as there are no exif data on the images hmm.

Cannot be handshake if the focal length is close and further more flash was used.
Re: mmu prom night 2010
This is something I'm not sure, but from the picture exposure it seems like either slow shutter or high ISO was used. But the images don't have exif data attached to further confirm. Maybe Sak can attach the settings, f/stop shuttter, ISO and focal length.

Re: mmu prom night 2010
Yup yup.. that's important for our sifu to judge the problem.. may be u can give some detail of the setting. and shutter speed in here for some of the OOF photos and let them judge...

Re: mmu prom night 2010
i ady put the detail at the photo there...i think the problem is because of the slow speed and hand shake...

a lot of ur 50mm pics is using this setting
speed: 1/30, F1.8, manual, iso:200
1/30 is just too slow unless u got yoga hands....lol
up maybe to 1/60,1/80, 1/100
50mm 1.8 is not sharp at 1.8, maybe up to f2.8
iso 200, up to maybe iso 400,500,600 to capture more ambient light.....
Re: mmu prom night 2010
yea lo...i think need at least 1/60...next time will try it again with different setting...thy...

Re: mmu prom night 2010
For 50mm, it does not have VR. Which means for most people, a 1/75s shutter will be required. If you're doing 1/30s, your hit rate would be low despite having flash.
Rule of thumb to avoid hand shake is to use 1/effective focal length. In your case, 50*1.5 -> 75 so 1/75s. But of course some people can hold it much more steady, or the lens has image stabilizer to assist.

Re: mmu prom night 2010
Ofcos when using flash u can further slow down ur shutter speed from ur normal comfortable zone just hv to be moderate to avoid killing the ambient light lo. Hehehe... about the IS ar... Buy the body with IS then u can hv IS in all the lens..
