Thanks simmonsimmon wrote:What a very stunning pic there
1) Nope, not at all. If Ant-mimic Spider (AMS) is deadly, it wouldn't need to mimic an ant to cheat predators and its possible preys.chaukian wrote:Superb macro la.. Respect

Ants are not delecious food for most of the predators. That's why that spider mimics an ant. Furthermore, some of the AMS use ant mimicry to get near a real ant and eat them. If they were so deadly (like jumping spider's stunning eyesight and jumping ability), they can hunt easily.
2) Jumping Spider (JS) always jump on me and my camera. They are very curious creatures. Most of the spider chooses to flee when they encounter big sized creature (eg: human), but JS will not flee immediately, instead they will observe what you are doing, moving their head in all directions constantly to see what you are up to.

1) Their fangs cant even pierce through my skin I think. Those deadly spiders are most likely to be Tarantulas and Orb Spiders, perhaps Crab Spiders too, other spiders are not so harmful to humanchaukian wrote:

2) the JS is about 2cm, consider very huge for JS already
